Create. Move. Perform.

Tutor: Shakeil Edwards, Ella Cain

Hip Hop Theatre is a dynamic creative space where young people explore performance through the music, stories and culture that inspire them today. Combining movement, acting, storytelling and contemporary music, students work collaboratively to create original performances while developing confidence, creativity and their own artistic voice. Using age-appropriate popular songs, improvisation and physical theatre techniques, and movement each session encourages young people to express themselves, experiment with ideas and bring their imaginations to life. Rather than focusing on traditional musical theatre or dance training, Stage Lab celebrates creativity in all its forms. Students might devise scenes inspired by a favourite song, create movement sequences, explore character through physicality, or work together to tell stories that reflect the world around them.

Throughout the year, participants will:

· Build confidence and communication skills.

· Develop creativity and teamwork.

· Explore acting, movement and performance techniques.

· Create original work inspired by contemporary culture.

· Have fun in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Whether they're an experienced performer or trying something new for the first time, Hip Hop Theatre offers a welcoming space to create, connect and perform.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PARENTS: if your child is 11 years old in September 2026, but turning 12 years between September 2026 – December 2026, please sign them up for this class. Students must stay in the same class in which they have signed up at the start of the academic year. Parents should not change the class of their child, unless instructed by an academy team member.

PLEASE NOTE: Our Academy team supports each young person in finding the class and learning environment that best supports their development. Following attendance and tutor observation, we may occasionally feel that a different Academy class would better support a student’s learning, confidence or wellbeing. Where this is the case, we will discuss our observations with the parent/carer and, where appropriate, the Academy may decide that a change of class is the most suitable next step for the young person.
